In Loving Memory of Justine Oryema, Chief Whip, LNC

Sunset: 01 August 2025

“The memory of the righteous is a blessing.” — Proverbs 10:7

The LNC fraternity stands together in mourning and remembrance of our dear comrade and Chief Whip, the late Justine Oryema, whose life of dedication, service, and integrity left an indelible mark on our community.

Justine Oryema was a true leader – a man of humility, wisdom, and action. Through his work within the Luo National Congress (LNC) he championed unity, fairness, and the advancement of artisans, business leaders, and community members alike. His passion for service inspired all who worked with him, and his legacy continues to live on in the lives he touched.

A delegation of LNC members paid a courtesy visit to his family to express solidarity and comfort. They were warmly received by his widow, Mrs. Justine Angwech, who graciously shared the circumstances surrounding his passing and how the family is gradually coping. She spoke with courage and gratitude, describing how their three sons are continuing their education, while she maintains her work with DHL and receives strong support from the extended family.

Mrs. Angwech conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the LNC fraternity, especially members of LNCIA, for their prayers, condolence messages, and contributions made in support of her family. She assured that these acts of kindness would be shared with other family members as a lasting testament of the love and brotherhood her late husband found within the LNC community.

A particularly moving moment came when one of their sons, filled with curiosity and admiration, asked about his father’s friends and work – expressing a desire to carry forward his father’s legacy. Mrs. Angwech welcomed the idea of engaging with the LNC, possibly through the Luo Business Administration Association (LBAA), so that she and her family may continue to walk in the same spirit of unity and service that defined Justino’s life.

On behalf of the LNC, Mr. Lawrence Oketayot, Interim Vice President of LBAA, LTA–Gulu, and Member of LNCIA & LNC, shared these reflections:

“We were deeply moved by the family’s resilience and gratitude. It was a successful visit that reminded us of the power of compassion and solidarity. On my own behalf and that of my colleague, Christine Josephine Adong, we thank all members who have touched this family with love and kindness. Let us continue to do good while we still have the opportunity. As we move forward, may we also refine our LNC policy on bereavement and member welfare to ensure that no family walks alone in times of loss.”

As we remember Justine Oryema, we celebrate a life devoted to purpose, people, and principle. His light will continue to shine in the work we do, in the unity we uphold, and in the legacy carried on by his loved ones.

May the Almighty God comfort his family and grant eternal rest to his noble soul.

With love and solidarity,
The LNC Interim Administration
WAN ACIEL.
